Deb Burma is a forgiven child of God who loves her Savior, Jesus. She has a passion for sharing His Extravagant Grace in an engaging way, touching the hearts of women, meeting them in the moments of their everyday lives, and leading them in the study of God’s Word. She is a sought-after author & speaker, traveling extensively for women’s retreats, conferences, and other ministry events.
Christian author of bestsellers, JOY: A Study of Philippians, Living a Chocolate Life, and Be Still & Know, Deb has penned an assortment of Christian-living books, Bible study books, retreat kits, and devotionals which also include: Sip, Savor, and Drink Deeply, Stepping Out, Beautiful Feet, and more, all published by Concordia Publishing House (CPH). Her work has appeared in several periodicals, such as the Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly and Today's Christian Living. Deb is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas. She has directed women’s, children’s, and family ministries in multiple churches across the Midwest, and she has received additional training with courses in writing, speaking, and doctrine through CPH, Concordia Seminary, and the Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI), under the direction of noted authors, editors, and theologians.
Deb has spoken for Lutheran Hour Ministries at both national and regional conferences and for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) as keynote speaker for National Convention, in addition to several district conventions. She has led workshops and sectionals for Best Practices for Ministry (BPM) Conferences, Concordia University System’s Beautiful Feet Conference, the Nebraska District LEA Conference, and WLI’s National Conferences. Her ministry travels have taken her to 28 states and Canada, aboard a Caribbean cruise ship, and continue to lead her down the street to her home church!
Deb was born and raised on a ranch in west-central South Dakota. She and her family have shared adventures residing in Texas, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin, and now she and her husband, Cory, live in Columbus, Nebraska, where he serves as pastor at Peace Lutheran Church. She is mom to the most amazing young adults, and she is a devoted frou-frou latte/coffee drinker who also considers herself a bit of a chocolate connoisseur. (Deb never travels without chocolate in one hand and a flavored hot latte in the other!) Above all, she is a grace-filled woman of God.
